Playa Blanca is situated on the south side of Lanzarote and through the years has become the third largest tourist area on the island. Awarded on various occasions for its beauty, this peaceful and pleasant spot is the ideal place for the whole family to relax in. 

 

Playa Blanca has a wide range of hotels surrounded by a flourishing service sector - bars, restaurants, businesses and one of the best recreational ports in Lanzarote. It is also close to the Papagayo Beaches where white sand and crystalline waters wash lap against the rocks.

 

You can find all kinds of restaurants, shops and bars along the Playa Blanca boardwalk, and the streets running parallel to it, at the edge of the old town. Another area that’s a must to visit is the recreational port, replete with newly constructed facilities of high quality. It also boasts a new shopping centre.

 

Among the beaches, those of Dorada and Flamingo stand out for their white sand and proximity to the main hotels in the area. However, without doubt, the beaches of Papagayo lead the pack. A network of fine white sandy coves is a delight to all its visitors. Although they can be reached on foot or by bike, a car would be recommended since it’s a long trek. (This is a nature reserve so a 3€ car toll is charged.)

 

A few minutes from Playa Blanca, you can find some of the most renowned sites on the island. Timanfaya National Park, La Geria, Janubio salt flats, El Golfo (the green lagoon), Los Hervideros or the charming village of Yaiza. You can also visit the village of Las Brenas, where you can enjoy the spectacular panorama of Playa Blanca with Fuerteventura Island in the distance.

From Playa Blanca you can ferry across to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura which takes 25 to 35 minutes, depending on which service you choose. The enormous beaches at Corralejo with their white sand dunes and crystalline waters make this trip worth the effort.
